The Problem with Most Church Content

Pastors have a lot on their plates—leading ministry, preparing sermons, and walking with people through some of their most difficult seasons.

And most pastors are great at these relational activities. But unfortunately, there's one area of your church that may be suffering: your digital content.

It's easy to let your digital content go stale, bland, and promotional—because most church content is surface-level information at best, and an afterthought at worst.

It’s all about you and not Jesus.

There are companies that try and help, but wind up producing half-baked, irrelevant content with no connection to your mission. It adds to the internet noise and makes your efforts look weak.

What's worse, you and your staff wind up frustrated because: you don't see any return on your investment, and it feels like you're burning through your church budget.

It's Time To Embrace Kingdom-Advancing Content

Your church can produce content that actually matters and has an impact online—just like your in-person ministries do.

Imagine seeing your church grow and give more without taking a design crash-course or managing online ads.

That’s what Kingdom-Advancing Content does.

You CAN foster a community of believers who live out the Great Commission and help fulfill your church's mission in your community with the right kind of content.

Meet Your Content Pastor

Hey there, I'm Luke. I started "The Content Pastor" for two reasons:

  1. to help churches fulfill the Great Commission
  2. to fill up the internet with more of what Jesus is doing

During and after college I was a local journalist. I spent each day searching for stories that mattered to my readers. Whether it was a city council agenda item or a feel-good piece, I learned how to listen to an audience and help them.

Then COVID hit. And I was planning to propose. I needed something better.

So I spent 3 years helping small businesses with their website and search engine optimization(SEO). I got to use my writing skills to build relationships between businesses and their local communities. I helped them grow online effortlessly.

Then I felt God call me to start my own thing. Specifically to help His Church.

It started with this question: how many churches have a blog? (Answer: too few).

I’m tired and frustrated of seeing churches and pastors treat their content poorly. I’m tired of seeing other church media companies take advantage of churches and post half-done content. I’m tired of church marketing efforts that don’t have a positive, sustainable return on investment.

You deserve better. Your church deserves better. God deserves better.

What Content for the Church Should Look Like

Church content is more than a Bible verse or sermon clip. It’s much more than event reminders and encouragement.

Kingdom Advancing Content is a sustainable, systemized strategy. It goes past "awareness" and lets people find your message and your church.

Three Easy Ways To Create Kingdom-Advancing Content

You don't have to carve out tons of hours to create new content. In fact, you already have everything you need! Here's what I mean:

Sermon Repurposing

Do more than post a transcript or link to your latest sermon. Take your core message and create readable, searchable content that drives people to engage with your church.

Testimonies

The strongest content always centers around story, and your congregation has plenty! Sharing testimonies helps reinforce the Gospel in your community.

Outreach/Mission Recaps

Where does your church serve? What opportunities did your people take advantage of? Build trust by showing where the efforts of your people are going.

"Working with him has been a game changer"

How to Distribute Kingdom-Advancing Content

Where does all of this Kingdom-Advancing content live?

Blogs

People are searching for hope, answers, and reasons to believe. Your website can help give those to them. Increase your web traffic with search optimized articles.

Email/Newsletters

Cut through all the inbox noise with an email strategy that informs members, welcomes guests, and moves people to action.

Video Content

Your livestream isn't the only way to have an impact. A combination of short- and long-form videos can reach even more people.

Intentional Social Media

Drive awareness and create shareable content on the channels that will help you see the most results.
